Providing food and support to those who need it most.
At Sol y Luz, we firmly believe in the transformative power of community and compassion. We envision a world where every elder in need can live in comfort.
Each year, we aim to reach and assist more elders, ensuring they have the essentials to live with dignity.
Founded in 2020, Sol y Luz, Inc. is a Houston-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to serving disadvantaged and underserved elderly communities in Mexico and US.
We hope to be a bridge to the care, support and resources needed to thrive.
We offer vital assistance to older adults facing hardship, meeting both immediate needs and long-term challenges.
With your support, we’re able to provide essential items such as food, hygiene products, adult diapers, blankets, mattresses, and even home appliances like washing machines to elders in need.
With deep roots in compassion and community, our mission is to bring dignity, care, and meaningful support to aging populations who are too often overlooked. Notably, we sponsored a full leg amputation and prosthetic for an elder in need, including ongoing physical therapy. Our goal is to improve quality of life with compassion, dignity, and sustained care.
Our Programs:

At Sol y Luz, every story begins with a challenge and ends with hope. Here are just a few of the lives touched through your support.
Why These Stories Matter
Behind every story is a truth: elders in our communities are too often overlooked. Through your generosity, Sol y Luz provides more than food, medical care, and housing we restore dignity, independence, and joy to those who deserve it most.
Together, we’re not just meeting needs. We’re changing lives.
Don Temo had been living with diabetes for years, but when his condition worsened, doctors told him he would need to have his leg amputated to survive. Without the surgery, his life was at serious risk. But the cost of the procedure, the prosthetic leg, and therapy were far beyond what he could afford.
For years, Don Chuy’s world slowly faded into shadows. Cataracts clouded his vision so badly that he could no longer read, walk safely, or recognize the faces of neighbors who greeted him. He feared losing not just his sight, but his independence.
Don Jerry had been living in near darkness for years. Cataracts had stolen his vision little by little until daily tasks became impossible. He could no longer read, walk safely, or enjoy the simple beauty of watching the world around him. The cost of surgery was out of reach.
We met Don Crecencio (86) and Don Carmelo (84) at a local store. Both were working as baggers, greeting customers with kindness and humility. When we spoke with them, they shared something that touched us deeply: they had no family to help, and the only way they could afford rent was by continuing to work, even at their age.
